The building of Sea and River Station was built in 1972. The station has been designed in the form of ship and become one of the symbols of Arkhangelsk. This building is well known in Russia because it is depicted on the 500-ruble banknote.
At the moment, the building is used not according to its original purpose. The space inside the building has been transformed into art-related space. Over the past few years, the Arkhangelsk Youth Theater has implemented here various pilot projects.
Nowadays, the icebreakers “Dikson” and “Captain Chadayev” are located by the berth of Sea and River Station.
