The State Museum Association “Artistic Culture of the Russian North” has the biggest collection of modern Kholmogory bone carving. The collection was started in the mid 1960s. Almost from the very beginning, the Museum has actively supported Kholmogory craftsmen by purchasing the most interesting artworks for its collection.

For the last 50 years, the collection has received the best bone artworks. Bone carving still exists by preserving traditions and continuity of generations.
