Tourism in Arkhangelsk
The Whitehead City Residence belonged to the Consul of Great Britain in Arkhangelsk, who also founded a trade corporation. A stone building near the pavement line and a wing in the depths of the courtyard is all that remains today. Buildings constructed in the middle of the 19th century are rather laconic and have little decoration. The main house used for living was built in classic style. This style was typical for residences in Arkhangelsk not only in the middle but also in the second half of the 19th century, despite the fact that it had long since gone out of vogues in capital cities. Now restaurant “Bobroff” is located on the first floor of this two-story building, and the Arkhangelsk Research-Educational Center “Lomonosovsky house” (“Lomonosovsky Foundation”) is housed in the wing.
