On April 9, 2021, the photo exhibition dedicated to Space Exploration Day opened in Historical-Architectural Complex “Arkhangelsk Merchant Yards”.
All the photos showing the Russian North were taken by Ivan Vagner, the Russian astronaut (from the Arkhangelsk Region), aboard the International Space Station.
“Once, looking out of the illuminator, I observed the Russian Northwest in the evening sunlight. At this angle of the sun, all water bodies reflected light well, and I was able to see the lakes and rivers that I know, my native places. It lifted my spirit up! And I realized that I can take pictures of the Russian North from space”, said Ivan Vagner.
